6 First Date Questions that Build Chemistry!

Well, my friends, asking the right questions can get you from an average first date to spark incredible, long-lasting emotions both of you might not have had in a long time.

Asking the questions is tricky because the reality is that the right questions and their emotional triggers might be different for everyone. I want to give you some questions that work on the balance of probability. Essentially they should work 70% of the time. I'm going to share 6 with you!

1. Assess their emotional response to you: "What are your first thoughts about me? Be honest!"

This is a great question to ask early on because it will give you an idea of how they feel about you and whether they're interested in pursuing anything further. If they're not, you can save yourself the trouble and move on.

2. Find out their interests: "What would you have to talk about for 20 minutes nonstop?"

The beauty of this tip is that it's based on human nature- we all love talking about ourselves or the topics nearest and dearest to our hearts. This question will let you know their interests and whether you share common ground.

When you can figure out what makes your date light up with excitement, you'll be opening the floodgates to endless, easy conversation.

3. Get a recommendation from them: "I want to read a new book this month; got any good recommendations?"

There's always an underlying mutuality when it comes to building chemistry that needs to be explored. You can figure out shared interests by asking someone for a recommendation, making your date feel appreciated. To take it one step further, you could mention something on your online dating profile like, "Let me know if there are any good local breweries near here."

4. Learn their most hilarious/mortifying tales: "Tell me about a silly thing you did once."

Sharing an embarrassing tale breaks the ice and humanizes you two as perfectly imperfect humans who occasionally make mistakes. It also sets the tone for further self-disclosure, which is key to intimacy.

This evens the playing field and reduces tension. When they're able to laugh, they'll have a tremendous opportunity to learn how they react when things don't go their way.

5. Find out what they think about dating: "What's a fantastic first date for you?"

This might seem a little odd and even counterintuitive, but I believe it's a great way to get to know what they're interested in and how they see romance and dating. Plus, it leads to more positive conversations that generate strong emotions. That can always give you some ideas for where to take the next date!

6. See if they're spontaneous: "If you could do anything right now, what would it be?"

This question allows your date to tap into their imagination and let loose a bit. It shows you whether they're spontaneous, fun-loving, or more reserved and laid-back. If they can't think of anything off the top of their head, you might want to steer clear.

Being nervous about what to say on a date is common, but it doesn't have to be. Just remember to speak passionately, walk confidently, and have a positive attitude, which will make those around you happy too. You don't have anything to lose by trying this out!
