Zoosk Review - Is Zoosk.com a Legit Dating Site?

7.1

Zoosk.com

Zoosk's stats are impressive, especially considering they aren't as well known as dating giants like Match (Match.com Review) and eHarmony (eHarmony Review). They boast 38 million members, 3 million daily messages and mobile apps for Amazon, Google Play and Apple's app store that have already received 30 million downloads.

Our Zoosk Review

When you arrive at the site you find an main page that is short and sweet, with the overall focus on getting you to add your details to the registration form. Some sites have lots of content here; images, success stories and even videos, but not Zoosk. That being said, they do have some links to their DateMix area, which does contain plenty of helpful tips and guidance for those that are new to online dating.

The sign up process for this dating site is a little different from most as it requires you to answer a few quick questions about yourself other than usual minimum name/ gender/ location. Although this makes joining up a slightly longer process, it ensures you're adding some important information to your dating profile when you're in the right state of mind. Creating an enhanced profile is crucial for internet dating – it's amazing how many more people are likely to connect with you online if you've got some basic details and a couple of images.

Let's Taker A Deeper Look - How Does Zoosk Work?

Once you've activated your email, you gain access to the members area. The first thing you notice here is the tutorial you're faced with, which shows you how to browse profiles and send messages. It's unusual to see this kind of user handholding, but it certainly doesn't hurt.

The search mechanism on the site is interesting, as rather than showing you lots of profile results at once, it shows you profiles that fit your search one by one. It means you get a better view of the profile and click “next” to see each subsequent single in your results. In our opinion, this does take more time, but it also allows you to get a better snapshot of the the person you might be tempted to ask out on a date, as you can quickly scan their profile description along with their picture.

In order to send or reply to messages or winks, you first need to validate your phone number and add a photo to your profile. This has presumably been set up to a) reduce the number of spam/ fake registrations and b) increase engagement on the site through a reduction of picture-less profiles. After doing so, you can send winks and are also welcome to upgrade to full membership in order to start sending messages to people you'd be interested in dating and having a relationship with.

The site features are pretty similar to a lot of the main online dating sites, nothing too innovative but plenty of ways to search for local singles. There's their typical search, a carousel search and a SmartPicks area (which recommends users based on the types you like). One thing we thought was quite cool is a section called “Insights” that shows you a summary of your outgoing and incoming activity.

Our Conclusion: Is Zoosk A Scam?

There's no doubt that Zoosk isn't your typical website for finding love. It put a lot more effort into extracting information about you to help you get more views and works hard to make sure you are who you say you are. While this limits the experience slightly for people who might just be looking around, it adds a layer of protection for the serious daters because any messages you receive should be from people who have a picture and used a mobile number and email to confirm their identity. It's a brave thing for Zoosk to do and although it doesn't guarantee anything, it's admirable that they risk pushing users away in order to ensure that the people on their site aren't time wasters.

Overall, our review has shown us that there's no doubt that Zoosk has earned it's place at the top table, when it comes to the major online dating sites. It's emphasis on safety is to be admired, and although the site design or features are nothing special, it's got the numbers. And let's face it, when it comes to choosing a great site help you find love, the numbers are what count.

Why not sign up to more than one site in order to multiply your chances of finding dates through online dating? If you're serious about finding love, then it makes sense to join 2-3 sites at a time and stick with the ones that perform best
